As wedding fever grips the UK I thought it would be a good idea to show what I can do with ribbon on a wedding theme!

The answer is shown here …a delicate ivory coloured satin ribbon printed in metallic gold foil lettering and featuring the happy couple’s names and the date of their wedding.

The ribbon is then the perfect thing to use to tie favour boxes for guests …don’t you think it gives it that something extra? It also means the guest has the perfect keepsake of the special day.

Do let me know if you have any thoughts on this ribbon. I think it would be ideal for people getting married themselves and for crafters who specialise in wedding products.

Thanks for dropping by. I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards. John –

You are my Tweety
And I love You!

Susan will be receiving five metres of beautiful red satin ribbon with her special Valentine message printed in metallic gold lettering all along it. Hope you enjoy it Sue …it’ll be in the post tomorrow!

I am delighted at the response the competition has had and think that some of the verses are brilliant. I was thinking about what I could do for everyone else who entered as a little thank you for doing so. I’m afraid there can only be one winner, but if you are interested in purchasing your own verse printed on 5m of red ribbon in metallic gold lettering in the ‘Love Letters’ font (as for the prize) I would be happy to reduce the price by the value of the P&P for you. The normal cost of the prize is £6.44, but the discount brings it down to £4.95 The only thing I ask is that you order it before mid-day this Friday (4th Feb) as my shops will be closing for a little while after that. Saturday the 5th is the last despatch date for Valentines ribbon!!!

If you would like to take up this offer, please place your order via either my Folksy or MISI shop as appropriate. Just order 5m of red ribbon and mention that you are a Valentine ‘Roses are Red’ competition entrant. I will then print your verse from the entry. I will refund the P&P via PayPal. Please note that this offer is only open to people who entered the competition!

You can order your ribbon at either of these shops: or

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I hope you all have a Valentine’s day filed with love and happiness.

Best wishes. John – PrintedOnRibbon

Hi All, well, it will soon be February 14th …that special day when we tell our loved ones what we really think of them!!!

I know I go on about what a useful bit of promotional ‘kit’ a printed ribbon is …but it’s also true to say that they can be used to great effect to tie gifts that you are giving …a ribbon makes it so much more special!

So, consider how much you are going to spend on a card for your other half this year …£5, £6, £10? …and then think that three metres of satin ribbon printed with your special message can be delivered to your door for just £4.46 all in! If you’re lovin’ what you’re reading, why not check out my main ribbon shop at … and let me know what I can print for you.

You could even see your ribbon featured on this blog unless it’s a bit too racy of course!!!

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Luv – John.

Hi All,

Today, (20th Jan) I have taken delivery of lots of lovely new ribbon. Stocks were getting a bit low after the busy Christmas period so it’s very welcome.

So, I can now offer you three new colours. ‘White’, which is an all round favourite and so versatile in what it can be used for. ‘Bridal White’, which is an off white that would be ideal for use on wedding favour boxes.

And then there’s ‘Shocking Pink’ which I have been asked for several times and have finally got some. It will be an ideal way to enhance those funky craft projects as well as look totally fab when tied to parcels and featuring your business name! And you’re not going to miss this colour!!

I hope you like these new colours and look forward to being of service to you soon.

Thanks – Happy crafting! – John –

I had some great news today …Kerry from  AcReSofBLuEsKy had received her recent ribbon order and had kindly written about it on her blog! She even showed a photo of the ribbon! If you would like to see what she ordered and have a read of her fab blog you can find the it here

Don’t forget that I’d be only too happy to show photo’s of ‘ribbon in action’ on this blog. So, if you’ve bought any off me and are using it please feel free to send me a photy and I’ll post it and add a link to your craft shop or website.

Thanks – John –

A warm welcome to the PrintedOnRibbon Blog!

I’m new to this blogging lark, so bear with me. I know the idea has been around for ages, but I’m a late starter! Please feel free to say if you think I’m doing something wrong or could be doing something better …or even just drop a line to say hi! It would be great to hear from you.

I’ve started off a few pages of things that may be of interest, including a selection of photos of ribbons that I hope will turn into a bit of a gallery of your ribbons ‘in action’ as well as examples I’ll post of things to print and ways to use them. But I thought I’d start by telling you a bit about how PrintedOnRibbon came about.

Funky Foam Frames

I’ve long been interested in making things and have dabbled with the likes of wire work, ceramic photo frames and gift tags & card toppers to name but a few! I even produced a range of ‘funky foam’ photo frames, which I thought were brilliant  …but they turned out to be a bit childish and I didn’t sell any when I took them to a craft fair! I’ve still got them …I might even open a shop online to sell them off!! lol.

After attending a few craft fairs and watching how they were organised I, like many before and after me, thought “I could do better than that”. So, I organised a few and eventually had quite a good following in a medium sized hall. I stopped doing them after the Christmas peak one year because costs were increasing and insurance was going through the roof …and I knew the crafters wouldn’t want to pay more and more for their stalls to cover it.

Pounds for Printing

But, I still itched to be involved with something crafty and it seemed that providing something for crafters to use might be an interesting idea. So after much pondering I decided to invest in a professional ribbon printer! The rationale being that I could provide something fairly unique to crafters (and indeed the public directly) that would have a value to them and be something they maybe couldn’t otherwise easily obtain without expensive investment …I guess I was looking to create and fulfill a niche market.

So after getting all the bits I set about working out how I could produce a product people would be interested in buying off me. I spent many a late evening contemplating all aspects of how the business would work. And I wasted lots of ribbon during the testing stages, but felt it was worth it to get it right for my future customers.

How does he do it?

Once an order is received I use a specialist computer programme to ‘design’ how the wording will look on the ribbon. I can quite literally put any words you like on it (within reason!) so the only limits are your imagination! I have access to a large number of fonts that I am licensed to use. You’ll see some of the best ones for printing on the item images in the shops, like here on Folksy. There are lots of great fonts, but they don’t all work on 10mm wide ribbon, as letters with long tails such as ‘g’ or ‘y’ just run off the edge! The design is sent to the printer which then puts the lettering onto the ribbon by a process known as ‘thermal transfer’. This is done via a roll of foil which bonds onto the ribbon in the form of a letter. All this happens quite quickly and the result is a ribbon that streams out of the printer with your words repeating all along it’s length! How fab is that!

So now I can offer the crafting world a bespoke ‘on demand’ ribbon printing service, giving crafters the opportunity to make use of this unique means of promoting their business for just a few pounds investment. Of course, it’s also ideal for tieing gifts for your own family and friends as well as for your customers parcels or enhancing projects. I’m always delighted to hear from new customers as well as my increasing list of regulars. So if there’s anything you’d like to ask about, don’t hesitate to contact me.

And of course, if there’s anything I can print for you …you know where I am …just follow the links on the Shops page to your favourite craft site.

Thanks for reading!

Until next time – happy crafting!
